A miraculous survivor of yesterday’s Babu Sir Massacre, Imtiaz, says there were around 30 to 40 gunmen who attacked the buses. They had long hair and were wearing Commando uniform. They carried ropes, blades and knives. These men surrounded the bus and checked everyone’s Identitiy Cards and asked several people to read the ‘Kalma’, so as to determine whether they were Shiite or Sunnis. The gunmen were from Khyber Pukhtoonkhuwa based on their looks and the language they were communicating in. Their long hair made it look like they were women. Imtiaz says he survived because during the checking he hid underneath the bus. When the bus, now carrying mostly Sunnis, had travelled about a kilometer and a half, the driver asked Imtiaz if he was alright, then brought him up to sit inside the bus.
Eye witnesses claim there were around 20 to 25 people killed, 11 of whom belonged to Astor, 2 belonged to Karachi, 2 belonged to Nagar, 2 to Gojar Khan and 1 to Bagrot. Remember on the 30th of July the Interior Minister had warned the Interior Secretary that terrorists might be planning something on the Karakaram Highway. A terrorist named Farooq, who belongs to Jagir Man, is the son of Abdul Jabbar and had been involved in the Kohistan Massacre, is in contact with other known terrorists who belong to Makar Koi, Jagir Bain and Kashrot. He is inviting them to Kohistan. An ISI Colonel pointed out this threat in the central mosque Bo Committee’s Chief Secretary’s office month earlier. However, the local government and the agencies, insteading of arresting them and breaking their networkds, seem to be providing the terrorists with more and more chances to commit even more organized genocide of Shiites. The government has not yet started acting up on the rules made after the Massacre of Minadir. Infact the Taliban have once again started to gather around in Chilas and Gilgit, something which the government knew and did not act on. Why is the current government not acting up to its responsibilities?
What does the current Municipalty Chairman say? The massacre of Babu Sir, Chilas was not an accident. It was planned and it was a conspiracy. The Interior Ministry warned the Gilgit Government and provided them with names of the known terrorists but no action was ever taken. As a result, dozens of innocent travellers were killed. These ideas were expressed in the current Muncipalty Chairman and the Organizer of All Muslim League Mohammed Ilyas. He said, the Taliban have set up a network in Zil-e-Diya Mar. The proof of which are the 3 continous terrorist attacks. But the government took no action against those responsible for the terrorists, just gave names and arrested a couple innocent people. A case should be filed against these terrorist actions or else Gilgit Baltistan may well turn into Sawat and Waziristan.
