Karachi: Police open fire on Protest against Anti-Islam movie, 9 injured
A protest was held against the Anti-Islam movie, which made fun of Prophet Mohammed s.a.w., by Majlis-e-Wehdat-e-Muslimeen and Imamia Students Organization. As the rally approached the American Consulate, police and rangers aerial-fired as well as firing tear gas and water cannons. 9 Shiites were injured.
All the injured have been moved to the Aga Khan hospital where 2 are in critical condition. The rally is still underway and has reached the American Consulate.
The rally was one of the many protests held worldwide against the film ‘Innocence of Muslims’ which was made in America and in which the Islamic personalities of Hazrat Khadija and the Prophet s.a.w. were made fun of.
